Say what you will about people of color, but I know a few of them who don’t appreciate having their skin tone compared to your sex life. You can stop riding the coat tails of actual Civil Rights heroes now, thanks.
I’m going to respectfully disagree with your phrase “having their skin tone compared to your sex life.” It’s not about a gay person’s sex life and it’s offensive for you to be that dismissive.
It’s about people being denied the equal right to be married to the person they love because they are the same gender. The arguments used against gay marriage are similar to the old arguments against interracial marriage.
I understand you disagree with people equating the argument for gay civil rights being similar to the fight for civil rights. I happen to see a number of similarities in the arguments against and the vitriolic rhetoric - you and I obviously have different opinions. I just think dismissing it as just being about sex shows ignorance of the real discrimination and prejudice that gay people face.
